Relationship Counselling

For those in a relationship wanting support with learning how to communicate better, manage conflict, and strengthen their relationship.

Hi, I’m Natalie, and I’m really glad you’re here.

You might be coming to therapy carrying anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or the impact of a traumatic experience. Other times, people reach out because something in life feels stuck and they’d like support in understanding it or moving forward. Whatever brings you here, you don’t have to navigate it alone.

I see therapy as a collaborative process. It isn’t about quick fixes or simply giving advice. Instead, it’s about working together as a team, exploring what’s going on for you, and finding ways to move toward growth and healing that feels right for your life.

From a young age, I’ve felt a deep appreciation and curiosity about people. I genuinely enjoy working with individuals from all kinds of backgrounds and perspectives, including those who may feel very different from me. Those differences often lead to meaningful conversations and deeper understanding.

My own journey with therapy began when I was about 16, during a period of depression in my youth. That experience allowed me to see firsthand how powerful it can be to have a caring, empathetic person truly listen. Sometimes we become so tangled up in our thoughts and feelings that it’s hard to see things clearly. Speaking them out loud to someone who can sit with you and gently offer perspective can be incredibly meaningful. Later in life, becoming a mother was another deeply humbling experience that strengthened my belief that emotional support is an essential part of living well.

Healing and growth are rarely linear. Sometimes progress looks like being able to talk about something without feeling overwhelmed. Other times it might involve making a big life decision, like choosing sobriety or setting a new boundary. Often, growth feels like “two steps forward, one step back,” and that’s a normal part of being human. Imperfection is part of the process, and as long as we keep moving forward with intention, we are on the path toward change.

My goal is to create a warm, accepting, and non-judgmental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. I adapt my approach to fit the unique needs and personality of each person I work with, but authenticity is always at the heart of what I do. I bring 10+ years of experience working in mental health to my practice, and generally tend to draw from CBT, and Gottman Therapy for couples. I will always show up as a real person who cares deeply about the work we are doing together.

In therapy, we can explore different perspectives on what you’re experiencing and also focus on the strengths you already have; even the ones you may not fully recognize yet. I believe those strengths are powerful tools for healing and growth.

Wherever you are in your journey, you are welcome here.

I am accepting new clients at the Coquitlam location.

Hi! My name is Hamidah and I am a registered clinical counsellor. I am an avid traveler, foodie, anime/manga buff, music lover, stand-up comedy and Asian drama enthusiast. I grew up in Singapore, which is a multi-cultural city-state, with influences from both western and eastern culture. Therefore, I am familiar with navigating a complex identity. I pursued my education, both undergraduate and graduate in the states, and moved to BC in 2020 in the midst of pandemic chaos. Hence, I am familiar with the stress and struggles of being an immigrant too.

I have been a counsellor for 8+ years and have worked with children, youth and adults across various mental health and substance use challenges. I am particularly interested in helping individuals navigate through life transitions, explore identity, tackle multi-cultural issues, and achieve self-acceptance. I believe in being a guide rather than an expert. I draw from a range of therapy modalities, such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, ACT and Narrative Therapy.

If I sound like someone who might be a good fit for you, you can call for a free 15-min consult or book an initial assessment with me through our site. I look forward to meeting with you!

I hope to bring curiosity, warmth, and nonjudgment to our interactions as we co-create a safe space for exploration and processing. I am trained in DBT, CBT, and EMDR to support you along this path. I work from a person-centered framework, meaning I view each client as the expert in their own life. I believe many of our struggles are connected to larger social issues. Yet, with the right support, everyone can move towards wellness. I have worked for over 8 years in the mental health sector. I am a Registered Social Worker. I work with individuals on topics related to emotional dysregulation, trauma, life transitions, anxiety, and depression, among other experiences.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, and snowshoeing. This connection to nature allows me to be present and authentic in other areas of my life. As a white settler living and playing on Indigenous lands, I am consistently learning how to be a good guest on my outdoor adventures. Apart from being outside, I can almost always be found alongside my dog, Benny.

I am currently accepting new clients aged 17 and above, or below 17 with prior discussion. I look forward to connecting with you!

You may be high-functioning on the outside while quietly struggling with self-doubt, burnout, or a sense that something isn’t quite fitting in your life.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful and self-aware, yet feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, emotional overwhelm, or disconnection from themselves and others.

You may find your usual ways of coping are no longer working. This might look like persistent anxiety, low mood, difficulty in relationships, challenges around identity/ belonging, or feeling unsure of how to express yourself authentically.

Our goal is to learn how to work with your brain rather than against it.

Our work together focuses on creating a space to feel genuinely understood. We will work on slowing things down, making sense of your experiences, and building practical tools to manage emotions, shift unhelpful patterns, and strengthen your sense of self. At the same time, will explore identity, relationships, and the things that shape how you see yourself.

If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where you fit, you don’t have to figure it out alone. There’s space here to be understood and to start moving forward at your own pace. This is something we can start working on together at The Nook.

My name is Rié,

I am a therapist and social worker, as well as animal lover, photographer, outdoor adventurer, book reader, and the list goes on.

I went to school at the University of British Columbia where I received both my Bachelors and Masters degrees in social work.

I have 9+ years experience working with youth, adults and families. I have spent many years working in healthcare in both acute and community settings. My focus has always been in mental health and addictions though I have also enjoyed spending time working in medical and physical rehab units.

I believe in meeting you where you are at. I will never force my agenda of what I think you should be doing; that is a process that we can work on together.

I work with older teens (17 and up; younger if previously discussed), and adults, and incorporate Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and EMDR. Most importantly, I believe that human connection, safety, and relationship are at the core of the healing journey. I strongly believe that each individual benefits from drawing on different modalities to fit their unique situation.

I look forward to meeting you in the nook!

Note: Clinical Social Work services can be claimed as medical expenses on income tax. They are also exempt from GST. If you are claiming fees under benefits, please ensure you have coverage for “Registered Social Worker, or RSW” designation.
